Eligibility Requirements

All three layers of requirements must be met.

General Requirements

At least 3 years of hands-on experience in the position's field, plus a specialized training credential as required for each trade.

A permanent, full-time job offer from a U.S. employer. Seasonal or part-time positions do not qualify.

Through the PERM process, the employer must demonstrate that no qualified U.S. workers are willing, able, and available to fill the position.

Meet the health requirements of the immigration medical exam and have a clean criminal record.

Three Layers of Real-World Requirements

Real Trade Skills

You must be the one who directly repairs, diagnoses, and maintains equipment.
- Qualifies: troubleshooting equipment, replacing components, planning preventive maintenance, and using measuring, testing, and diagnostic tools.
- Does not qualify: only operating machines by set procedures, only working as a helper, or only doing simple, repetitive tasks.

Verifiable Evidence

- Employment verification letters on company letterhead, signed, stamped, and with contact details so U.S. authorities can verify them.
- A detailed description of your daily job duties, specific enough to demonstrate your skills.
- Exact employment dates by month and year, hours per week, and confirmation that the work was full-time.
- Employment contracts, social insurance records, payslips, and bank statements showing salary deposits.
- Specialized training credentials, trade certificates, photos and videos of your work, and maintenance logs or service records.

Finances and Commitment

- Sufficient financial capacity for a 24 to 36 month timeline.
- A commitment to go to the U.S. and work in the stated role for the stated employer.

English Requirements

Much lower than for professional-level categories. You need enough English to understand technical instructions, read equipment documentation, and communicate on the shop floor. This is something you can prepare for while your case is pending.
